Cwpan Ceredigion Final
St Dogmaels 4 Tregaron 5 (aet)
In a thrilling Cwpan Ceredigion Cup Final at Ffostrasol Tregaron edged out St Dogmaels by the odd goal in nine.
The North Ceredigion side got off to the perfect start taking the lead after only eight minutes when an unmarked Jonathan Evans headed home from a corner.
To their credit the Saints responded magnificently and goals from Simon Wilson, Chris Thomas and Ioan Owen gave them a comfortable half time advantage.
The second period however belonged to Tregaron. Four minutes in a Glen Stuart effort put them back into the reckoning before a Dorian Evans own goal from a Jonathan Evans free kick took the game into extra time.
Once again St Dogmaels regained the lead with the elusive Slawomir Waleczek capitalising an elusive run with a low effort into the far corner of the net.
The excitement however, was far from finished. Gareth Davies handed Tregaron a further lifeline with the equaliser from a corner and then when it seemed that the penalty shoot out would be required the Saints' Daniel James unfortunately headed into his own net for the goal that finally decided the tie.
To compond St Dogmaels' misery they were reduced to ten men before the end with the sendings off of Simon Wilson and keeper Colin Owen.
